Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Active membership in good standing with the Maryland Bar, or eligible for admission to Maryland within six months.
• Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible professional legal experience including litigation or administrative proceedings relevant to public education.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal opinions, counsel, and recommendations to the Superintendent, General Counsel, executive leadership, and Board when applicable.
• Oversee delivery of legal services and supervise assigned staff and outside counsel.
• Advise on labor and employment matters including grievances, collective bargaining, and discipline.
