Job Overview

Amtrak is seeking a Deputy General Counsel for Commercial Transactions in Washington. This leadership role involves advising senior management, managing legal teams, and overseeing complex legal matters related to commercial transactions, government relations, and corporate policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic legal advice and support to executive leadership and internal clients.
• Manage and oversee legal teams and outside counsel in transactional and litigation matters.
• Negotiate and draft contracts, and manage legal risks associated with commercial dealings.
• Ensure compliance with federal regulations and internal policies.
• Mentor junior attorneys and develop legal training programs.

Minimum Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and current membership in good standing in a state bar.
• At least 12 years of legal experience, including leadership roles in law firms or as senior in-house counsel.
• Proven ability to manage complex legal matters and advise senior management.

Preferred Qualifications

• 15 or more years of relevant legal experience.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $187,500 - $242,892, complemented by a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and other employee benefits.
