Automatic progression from Deputy Fire Marshal I to II after required certifications and two years in the I role; requires a high school diploma, with II requiring three years of relevant experience in fire prevention or suppression.

Movement between the Deputy Fire Marshal I and Deputy Fire Marshal II will be automatic after completion of the required certifications and two years as a Deputy Fire Marshal I.

Salary Ranges

Deputy Fire Marshal I: $39.9429 - $52.2028

Deputy Fire Marshal II: $43.8097 - $57.2573

Education and Experience

• Deputy Fire Marshal I - High school diploma or equivalent.
• Deputy Fire Marshal II - High school diploma or equivalent. Three years full-time paid fire prevention and/or fire suppression experience with a municipality or other government fire agency.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to speak in public.
• Ability to serve the business community, community organizations, and community members in a positive and professional manner.
• Experience with researching, writing and administering grants is preferred.
