Job summary

The Bay Area Air District is seeking a Deputy Executive Officer of Equity and Community Programs to lead civil rights, community investments, equity initiatives, and environmental justice across nine Bay Area counties.

This at‑will, full‑time role reports to the Executive Officer/APCO and shapes policy, partnerships, and workforce equity while directing strategic programs to reduce disparities and improve air quality for underserved communities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a job‑related field and six years of professional level work experience, including four years of management experience.
• Some positions may require specialized training, education, and experience.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
• Strong leadership and collaborative skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and policy direction to the Executive Officer and Board.
• Lead equity-focused programs, civil rights, community investments, and DEI initiatives.
• Engage with diverse stakeholders to advance environmental justice goals.
• Direct strategic incentives and technology implementation efforts to reduce pollution.
• Oversee program schedules, budgets, and contracts.
