Job summary

Opelika Housing Authority in Opelika, Alabama, is seeking an Assistant Executive Director to provide strategic leadership across PBRA, Housing Choice Voucher, community development, and real estate initiatives.

The AED reports to the Executive Director, oversees operations, policy direction, and organizational management to ensure HUD compliance, board governance, and alignment with the City of Opelika's goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in a related field.
• Master's degree preferred in Public Administration, Business, Planning, Real Estate Development, Finance, or related field.
• Extensive experience in affordable housing, community development, PBRA, public housing/HCV administration, or municipal agency leadership.
• Demonstrated experience supervising executive management staff and managing complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Serve as second-in-command to the Executive Director and provide strategic leadership across major functions.
• Oversee PBRA, Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8), Community Development, Real Estate Development, Finance Alignment, Asset Management, and HR.
• Ensure programs and operations align with HUD requirements, Board policy, and city goals.
• Act as Executive Director in their absence and guide internal operations and partnerships.
