The Missouri Department of Corrections is seeking an Administrative Assistant to the department’s Assistant Deputy Director. The Office supports Public Information, Constituent Services, Victim Services, the Research Unit, and Legislative Affairs from Central Office in Jefferson City.
Ideal candidates will be detail-oriented, organized, and able to multi-task, with professional oral and written communication skills.

This position is located in Jefferson City at Central Office.
This position serves as the Administrative Assistant to the department’s Assistant Deputy Director. The Office of the Assistant Deputy Director oversees several key functional areas, including the Public Information Office, Constituent Services, Victim Services, the Research Unit, and Legislative Affairs. The Administrative Assistant supports the coordination, communication, and administrative operations across these units, ensuring efficient workflow and effective departmental operations.
This position is located in a fast-paced office; therefore, applicants will need to be detail-oriented, organized and have the ability to multi-task. Possess professional oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate in a friendly, welcoming and professional manner, both in person and via phone.
One or more years of experience as an Administrative Support Assistant (SOSA) with the Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System; and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency
OR
Four or more years of office or related clerical experience; and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency.
(Training from an accredited vocational or business school in Office Management, Secretarial Science, or a closely related field may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience at a rate of 30 earned credit hours, or 480 clock hours, for one year.)
(Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience at a rate of 30 earned credit hours for one year.)

The Department of Corrections currently offers a guaranteed 1% pay increase for every two years of continuous service up to 20 years! If you are transferring from another State of Missouri agency and are receiving state retention pay, please be advised that the Missouri Department of Corrections administers retention based upon your retention anniversary date. As a result, your retention pay upon transfer may differ from what you were receiving at your previous agency until you reach your applicable retention anniversary date.
