The 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office in Colorado is seeking a Deputy District Attorney – Felony Prosecutor to handle felony cases and conduct jury trials with integrity to protect the community.

The role requires a Colorado-licensed attorney with at least four years of prosecuting experience, including felony cases. The office emphasizes education, treatment, and reducing recidivism for Adams and Broomfield Counties.

Qualifications

• Must possess a law degree from an accredited law school.
• Four (4) years minimum experience as prosecuting attorney in Colorado or another state.
• Prior felony prosecution experience is required.
• Must be a licensed attorney permitted to practice law in the State of Colorado.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate a strong commitment to seeking justice, preserving community safety and making the criminal justice system better.
• Perform the duties of a District Court felony prosecutor, including preparing and conducting jury trials on felony offenses of varying levels of complexity.
• Maintain a large caseload of felony cases and shepherd the cases through the system, including plea offers, working with victims, preparing witnesses, coordinating with law enforcement, and interacting with defense attorneys.
• Present evidence, argue motions of suppression and other legal motions, and litigate all stages of a jury trial from jury selection to closing statement.
• Performs legal research as needed for the proper prosecution of felony cases.
• Represent the District Attorney with professionalism and integrity in dealing with court officials, witnesses, and the general public.
• Establish, nurture and improve relationships between the District Attorney’s Office and the community.
• Provide, on a scheduled basis, off-hour and on-call services to police agencies.

The Deputy District Attorney – Felony Prosecutor

• Demonstrate a strong commitment to seeking justice, preserving community safety and making the criminal justice system better
• Perform the duties of a District Court felony prosecutor, including preparing and conducting jury trials on felony offenses of varying levels of complexity.
• Maintain a large caseload of felony cases and perform all necessary duties to shepherd the cases through the criminal justice system, including making appropriate plea offers, working with victims, preparing witnesses, collaborating with law enforcement and interacting with defense attorneys.
• Present evidence, argue motions of suppression and other legal motions, and litigate all stages of a jury trial from jury selection to closing statement.
• Performs legal research as needed for the proper prosecution of felony cases
• Represent the District Attorney using professionalism and integrity in dealing with court officials, witnesses, members of the legal community and the general public.
• Establish, nurture and improve relationships between the District Attorney’s Office and the community
• Provide, on a scheduled basis, off-hour and on-call services to police agencies requiring assistance during nights and weekends
