Job summary

The Fresh Air Fund in New York City is hiring a Deputy Director of School-Year Programs to lead and elevate its school-year offerings for youth. The role partners with the Director to manage staff, curriculum, safety, and participant engagement, connecting young people with nature and outdoors.

The position is full-time and hybrid, with evenings/weekends as needed. Salary ranges from $70,000 to $80,000 annually, plus comprehensive benefits and opportunities for leadership development.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5–7 years of experience in youth programming, education, nonprofit management, or community engagement.
• Demonstrated success supervising staff and/or volunteers and fostering strong team culture.
• Experience designing or improving program systems, curricula, or training models.
• Strong operational and logistical planning skills across multi-site or field-based programming.

Responsibilities

• Lead program planning and staff supervision to deliver engaging youth experiences.
• Oversee day-to-day operations, scheduling, logistics, and safety protocols.
• Design and refine curricula and activities aligned with youth development.
• Coach staff on lesson design, group management, and inclusive facilitation.
• Engage families and external partners to support program delivery.
• Track data and outcomes, ensuring compliance and quality control.
