Job summary

The City of Kirkland seeks a Deputy Director of Public Works - Capital Projects to lead the division responsible for a multi‑hundred‑million CIP portfolio and strategic program delivery. The successful candidate will guide project delivery, develop staff and ensure governance, risk management, and customer service excellence in a dynamic municipal environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Civil/Construction Engineering or related discipline.
• 7+ years of progressive leadership experience in capital projects or public works, with 5+ years supervising staff.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer in Civil Engineering is preferred/required where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Leads and manages staff in the Capital Projects Division with accountability and performance.
• Oversees CIP program development, budgets, and grant submissions.
• Reviews engineering drawings and approves plans as the City’s engineer of record.
