Job summary

The Washington State Department of Commerce seeks a Deputy Assistant Director for the Office of Economic Development and Competitiveness (OEDC) in Seattle. This senior role leads internal operations, HR, budgets, contracts, and performance management while guiding cross-divisional coordination.

You will shape strategic plans, manage programs, ensure compliance with policies, oversee staff, and build partnerships with local, state, and federal stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Ten years combined experience and education.
• Experience: five or more years in government administration or trade promotion/economic development.
• Two or more years of supervisory experience.
• Combination of two or more of the listed qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for OEDC and SMART goals.
• Manage division budgets and external funding opportunities.
• Represent Commerce to stakeholders and develop partnerships.
• Oversee staff performance, coaching and evaluations.
