Job summary

Wyoming Department of Corrections seeks a strategic Deputy Director to lead day‑to‑day operations and partner with the Director and Executive Leadership to implement the agency’s goals. This at‑will role oversees three divisions and supports the Director in the Wyoming Legislature and with key stakeholders.

The ideal candidate balances operational needs with community safety and large, complex initiatives, driving a culture of innovation, accountability, and growth across the agency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in criminal justice or related field; graduate degree in corrections/public administration/business/law preferred.
• 10–12 years of progressive work experience in criminal justice/Human Services with minimum 7 years supervisory experience.
• Thorough knowledge of adult correctional organizations, government, policymaking, budgeting, leadership principles, staff development, and long‑term planning.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the agency's three divisions: Support Services, Field Services, and Prison Operations; coordinate with division administrators and upper-level managers.
• Lead and facilitate regular leadership/management meetings; communicate findings and ideas across the organization.
• Guide department-wide initiatives in staff development, research, policy, long-term planning, and outcomes.
