Job summary

NIH National Library of Medicine's Lister Hill National Center for Biomedical Communications seeks a Deputy Director to lead program development, evaluation, and policy formulation, coordinating activities across LHNCBC and governing bodies.

The role oversees a $14 million budget and ~70 staff, guides modernization of technology products, and ensures research technologies move from lab to real-world health applications, with emphasis on clinical informatics and translational science.

Qualifications

• Doctoral-level degree in biomedicine, engineering bioinformatics, or a related scientific field, or a master’s degree with sufficient engineering experience and expertise.
• At least one year of experience demonstrating recognition as an expert in their field, with leadership in planning public meetings and communicating regulatory scientific policies.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and assess LHNCBC research technologies as they transition into real-world environments.
• Direct the day-to-day operations and oversee the $14 million budget and ~70 staff.
• Provide strategic and operational guidance to LHNCBC staff and support modernization of technology products and processes.
• Recruit, develop, and retain leadership and program teams and staff.
