Job summary

County of Napa is seeking a Deputy Chief Technology Officer to oversee Infrastructure, Operations, and Security within the Information Technology Services division. This executive role leads hybrid/cloud infrastructures, cybersecurity strategies, and enterprise-wide technology services for county departments and districts.

The position emphasizes strategic planning, vendor management, and resilience, with telework up to two days per week and an at-will management status. A 2027 start is possible.

Qualifications

• Six years of IT experience with two years in a management role.
• Bachelor's degree in CS, MIS, public admin, business, or related field; advanced degree desirable.
• California driver’s license; license/certification maintained during employment.

Responsibilities

• Direct infrastructure standards, tech stacks, and reference architectures across departments.
• Oversee hybrid/multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure) and cloud governance.
• Plan and manage data center, network, and compute infrastructure to support AI workloads.
• Oversee core identity systems (AD, Entra ID, Okta; MFA; Zero Trust).
• Act as executive escalation point during outages or ransomware events.
• Lead regular tests of business continuity procedures.
• Manage physical assets, data centers, edge environments, and power/cooling resilience.
