Job summary

Santa Clara County Libraries seeks a Deputy County Librarian to lead a modern, community-centered system at the heart of Silicon Valley. In this executive role, you’ll set strategy, design programs, and direct key initiatives across the district, supporting equity, learning, and public access.

You’ll supervise a leadership team and act as department head as needed. As part of the Executive Team, you’ll influence policy, forge partnerships, and represent the library in governmental and community

Qualifications

• Progressively responsible supervisory/administrative experience in a public library system.
• Experience participating in policy and program determination at a systemwide level.
• Knowledge of library administration, operations, personnel management, fiscal management, collection development, reference services, and staffing strategies.
• Ability to lead comprehensive programs and supervise diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with County Librarian to set strategy and design programs across the system.
• Direct key programs and oversee long-term strategic vision.
• Serve as acting department head when needed.
• Represent the County Librarian at internal, community, professional, and governmental meetings to shape long-term strategy.
