The State of North Carolina - Judicial Branch is seeking a part-time Deputy Clerk in Chatham County to support the legal system. You will process court case documentation, perform data entry, handle cash receipts, and assist in maintaining courtroom records with accuracy and discretion.
Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 18 years of age. Preference for residents of Chatham County and for prior courthouse or law office experience.

Salary Range: $18,702.00 - $30,251.00
This position is permanent, part time, 20 hours per week. The Office of the Clerk of Superior Court, Chatham County, is seeking a qualified individual to serve in the position of deputy clerk in the legal system of North Carolina by processing, controlling and maintaining documentation of court cases.
As a deputy clerk, you may perform a variety of duties including working in the courtroom, providing customer service, data entry, typing, filing, cash receipting, multi-tasking, and an assortment of other tasks.
New hires may be paid above the minimum rate depending on education and experience in a North Carolina Clerk of Superior Court office.
As a Deputy Clerk, you may perform a variety of duties such as, but not limited to, the following:
Knowledge of: NC general statutes; policies and procedures related to the local judicial district; juvenile proceedings; eWarrants; eCourts; Odyssey Enterprise Justice, and general office and clerical procedures.
Skills in: basic math; active listening; managing a high volume of public interaction; effectively communicating both verbally and in writing; fast, accurate data entry; and MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Ability to: read and comprehend legal documents; interact diplomatically with a diverse group of people; multi-task; adjust to unexpected events; meet deadlines; organize and manage files; work independently; maintain confidentiality; and provide procedural information without giving legal advice.
