Job summary

Cook Children’s Medical Center is seeking an Associate Vice President, Deputy Chief Information Security Officer to lead the enterprise cybersecurity program. You will oversee security architecture, standards, and integration across operations, engineering, IAM, and data protection, while guiding risk assessment and incident response.

This role represents the Office of the CISO with senior stakeholders and partners across functions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree a plus.
• 10 years in information technology security.
• Healthcare experience preferred.
• Experience in devising, implementing, and maintaining information security management framework.
• Strong knowledge of HIPAA, HITRUST, ISO 27001, NIST, PCI-DSS, etc.
• Advanced knowledge of information security technology.
• Experience dealing with and containing information security incidents.
• Ability to engage and influence a broad range of internal stakeholders.
• Highest levels of personal integrity, professionalism, judgment, and maturity.

Responsibilities

• Supports the CISO in executing the enterprise cybersecurity strategy and roadmap.
• Provides leadership of cybersecurity architecture, security design, and standards.
• Partners with cybersecurity leaders to align operational priorities and accountability.
• Guides security capabilities across operations, engineering, IAM, and data protection.
• Oversees security architecture reviews ensuring alignment with risk tolerance.
• Drives cybersecurity program maturity and measurable outcomes.
• Supports risk identification, assessment, mitigation, and escalation with stakeholders.
• Leads strategic cybersecurity initiatives including modernization and third-party security integration.
• Supports incident response, crisis management, and executive communications.
