Job summary

Delaware Department of Justice seeks Deputy Attorneys General to join the Criminal Division, Misdemeanor Trial Unit in New Castle County. DAGs will handle a fast-paced misdemeanor caseload, determine prosecutions, negotiate pleas, and appear regularly in court.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be a member of the Delaware Bar, or be expected to graduate from law school and be registered to sit for the next Delaware Bar Exam.
• Strong analytical and research abilities, with an understanding of evidentiary rules and court procedures.
• Experience in prosecutorial settings and courtroom advocacy is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Determine which cases to prosecute, resolve via plea agreements, or take to trial.
• Formulate plea offers on a case-by-case basis and try unresolved matters.
• Interact with the public, negotiate with defense counsel, and manage diverse criminal matters.
