Job summary

Kratos Defense in Crane, IN, seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer/Depot Activation Lead to stand up a new MRO capability within a major defense program. You will drive integration of mechanical requirements, deploy test infrastructure, and organize complex logistics and data environments to ensure sustained system readiness.

The role involves coordinating with radar engineers, field technicians, and manufacturing leads, developing BOMs and installation drawings, and supporting Navy evaluations

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 6–8 years of aerospace or defense sustainment experience.
• Experience with MRO processes and defense sustainment operations.
• Proficiency deploying automated test equipment and supporting infrastructure.
• Ability to map, manage, and validate logistics, configuration, and sustainment data environments.
• Knowledge of DoD logistics systems and IOC/FOC milestones.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with systems, electrical, and test engineering to integrate mechanical requirements into prototypes.
• Prepare engineering documentation, drawings, analysis reports, and configuration-controlled artifacts.
• Support Navy design reviews, milestone events, and evaluations.
• Develop or update BOMs, install drawings, wiring diagrams, and radar subsystem documents.
• Coordinate with radar engineers, field technicians, and manufacturing leads to resolve discrepancies.
• Ensure quality requirements are included in all documentation prepared with QA input.
