Job summary

Community Financial System, Inc. is hiring for a role in Deposit Operations focused on reviewing, investigating, and resolving unauthorized Debit Card and ACH activity. You will ensure compliance with laws, process credits and adjustments, and communicate statuses to customers.

The position supports branches and internal teams while maintaining strict controls. The role requires excellent communication, data entry, and attention to detail, with 40 hours per week and a competitive benefits

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent; an Associate’s Degree in Business or Accounting preferred.
  • Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematical skills; strong computer skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and data entry skills.
  • At least one year of office experience in banking or a regulated field.

Responsibilities

  • This position reviews, investigates, and resolves unauthorized Debit Card and/or ACH activity on customer accounts according to regulations.
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable laws; comply with policies, procedures, and controls; complete training on time.
  • Process unauthorized or disputed debit card transactions.
  • Issue provisional credits, final credits, charge backs, and process adjustments per guidelines.
  • Prepare communications to customers regarding claim status.
  • Provide clearing sheets to Reconcilement Representative I for Reg. E items from ATM Reconcilement.
  • Assist branches and customers with disputes.
  • Stay updated on regulatory changes and cooperate with Compliance and Audit.
  • Collaborate with team to meet departmental goals and deliver quality service.
  • Support Deposit Operations to help achieve annual department goals.

Responsibilities
  • This position is responsible for reviewing, investigating, and resolving unauthorized Debit Card and/or ACH activity on customer accounts in accordance with the regulations and compliance.
  • Maintain proficient knowledge of, and demonstrate ongoing compliance with all laws and regulations applicable to this position, ensure ongoing adherence to policies, procedures, and internal controls, and meet all training requirements in a timely manner.
  • Process unauthorized or disputed debit card transactions.
  • Issue provisional credits, final credits, charge backs, and process adjustments within regulatory guidelines.
  • Prepare communication to customers regarding claim status.
  • Provide clearing sheets to Reconcilement Representative I to assist in clearing Reg. E items from the ATM Reconcilement.
  • Provide assistance to branches and customers regarding disputes.
  • Keep up to date on any changes in Regulations.
  • Work with Compliance and Audit to maintain regulatory standards.
  • Cooperate with other members of the department to achieve departmental goals and provide quality customer service.
  • As an integral member of the Deposit Operations Department, this position is also responsible to provide assistance wherever necessary to help the Deposit Operations Department and the Bank in achieving their annual goals.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; an Associate’s Degree in Business or Accounting preferred.
  • Proficient reading; writing, grammar, and mathematical skills; strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Must be detail oriented, and have excellent organizational and data entry skills.
  • At least one (1) year of office‑related experience in a fast‑paced environment, in banking or a similarly regulated field required.
  • All applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
Other Job Information

Hours: 40 hours/week (M-F 8:00-4:30)

Compensation: Commensurate with experience plus potential for annual merit increase.
