Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems seeks a Principal Deployable Network Communications engineer (Level 2 or 3) to join our Aircraft Solutions team at Beale AFB, with clearance and travel as required.

You will plan, evaluate, and coordinate installation of hardware and software, maintain RF/SATCOM systems, document configurations, ensure multi-classification security, and support third‑party integration and deployments.

Qualifications

  • HS diploma + 4+ yrs related experience, or BS + 2+ yrs, or MS + 0 yrs
  • Ability to meet medical requirements and pass a physical for worldwide travel
  • Active US DoD Secret clearance or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation; Top Secret within 365 days
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level-II or -III cert (e.g., Security+, GSEC, CCNP Security)

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Deployable Network Communications engineer (Level 2 or 3) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within the Aircraft Solutions organization. This role is located at Beale AFB.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, evaluate, and coordinate installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of several integrated and specialized information systems.
  • Maintain technical expertise in all areas of information systems hardware/software, radio frequency and SATCOM communications systems, and interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
  • May propose solutions to management to ensure all communications requirements based on future needs and current usage, configuring such solutions to optimize cost savings.
  • Prepare documentation or ensures that appropriate network documentation exists, including maintenance documentation and instructions.
  • Provide regular monitoring and analysis regarding short- and long-range project planning and utilization of proprietary systems.
  • Ensure secure movement of information across a multi-classification level computing environment.
  • May coordinate third-party maintenance for equipment.
  • Supports hardware/software integration activities and provides engineering feedback on effectiveness of system upgrades and modifications.
  • May design systems or portions of systems that include selection of hardware and software packages.
Basic Qualifications – Level 2
  • Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent with at least 4 years of related military / professional experience, OR a Bachelor's of Science degree and at least 2 years of related military / professional experience, OR a Master's degree and 0 years of related military / professional experience.
  • Must be willing and able to work a flexible work schedule that may include extended shifts, holidays, and weekends and support on call status for 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week, and 365 days a year.
  • Must have the ability to meet medical requirements and pass a physical for worldwide travel.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a valid U.S. passport.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 25% of the time and accept customer furnished quarters, when required, for periods up to 90 days away from primary work location and comply with mobility requirements.
  • Must be able to maintain customer requirements for ability to deploy.
  • Must have an active US Government Secret clearance with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation.
  • Must be able obtain and maintain US Government Top Secret security clearance within 365 days from submission.
  • Must have ability to obtain and maintain Special Program access clearance within 365 days from submission.
  • Must possess a DoD 8570/8140 recognized IAT Level-II or -III certification. (examples include: Security+, GSEC, GICSP, SSCP, SecurityX/CASP+, CCNP Security, CISA, etc.)

  • Wide Area (WAN) and Local Area (LAN) networking.
  • Group policy design, testing and implementation.
  • Radio Frequency Transmission Systems.
  • Satellite Communications Systems.
  • Containerization and Microservice architecture familiarization (Docker/Kubernetes/Apache Karaf).
  • Oracle RAC Virtualization.
  • Integrated operational support experience with DoD customers.
  • COMSEC Quality Assurance or performing quality reviews of technical publications or training documents.
  • Familiarity with military planning and flight activities.

Primary Level Salary Range: $79,600.00 - $119,400.00.

Secondary Level Salary Range: $98,900.00 - $148,300.00.

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
