Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Principal Deployable Network Communications engineer (Level 2 or 3) to join our Aircraft Solutions team at Beale AFB. The role covers installation/configuration of hardware and software, RF and SATCOM systems, and secure multi-classification data handling.

Candidates must obtain/maintain required clearances (Secret, TS within 365 days) and may travel up to 25%.

Qualifications

  • Must have a DoD 8570/8140 recognized IAT Level-II or -III certification (e.g., Security+, GSEC, GICSP, SSCP, etc.).
  • Level 2 requires 4+ years military/professional experience with HS, or 2+ years with BS, or 0 years with MS.
  • Level 3 requires 9+ years with HS, 5+ years with BS, 3+ years with MS, or 1+ year with PhD.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, evaluate, and coordinate installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of integrated information systems.
  • Maintain expertise in information systems hardware/software, RF and SATCOM, and networking components (routers, firewalls, etc.).
  • Propose solutions to optimize cost savings and ensure communications requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain network documentation and maintenance instructions.
  • Monitor and analyze short- and long-range project planning and system utilization.
  • Ensure secure movement of information across multi-classification environments.
  • Coordinate third-party maintenance for equipment when needed.
  • Support hardware/software integration and provide feedback on system upgrades.
  • Design systems or portions of systems with hardware/software selections.

Role Summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Deployable Network Communications (Level 2 or 3) engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Aircraft Solutions organization. This role is located at Beale AFB.

Your Duties Include
  • Plan, evaluate, and coordinate installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of several integrated and specialized information systems.
  • Maintain technical expertise in all areas of information systems hardware/software, radio frequency and SATCOM communications systems, and interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
  • May propose solutions to management to ensure all communications requirements based on future needs and current usage, configuring such solutions to optimize cost savings.
  • Prepare documentation or ensures that appropriate network documentation exists, including maintenance documentation and instructions.
  • Provide regular monitoring and analysis regarding short- and long-range project planning and utilization of proprietary systems.
  • Ensure secure movement of information across a multi-classification level computing environment.
  • May coordinate third-party maintenance for equipment.
  • Supports hardware/software integration activities and provides engineering feedback on effectiveness of system upgrades and modifications.
  • May design systems or portions of systems that include selection of hardware and software packages.
This position may be filled as a Level 2 or Level 3 based on the qualifications outlined below.
Basic Qualifications – Level 2
  • Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent with at least 4 years of related military / professional experience, OR a Bachelor's of Science degree and at least 2 years of related military / professional experience, OR a Master's degree and 0 years of related military / professional experience.
  • Must be willing and able to work a flexible work schedule that may include extended shifts, holidays, and weekends and support on call status for 24 hours-a-day, 7 days- a-week, and 365 days a year.
  • Must have the ability to meet medical requirements and pass a physical for worldwide travel.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a valid U.S. passport.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 25% of the time and accept customer furnished quarters, when required, for periods up to 90 days away from primary work location and comply with mobility requirements.
  • Must be able to maintain customer requirements for ability to deploy.
  • Must have an active US Government Secret clearance with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation.
  • Must be able obtain and maintain US Government Top Secret security clearance within 365 days from submission.
  • Must have ability to obtain and maintain Special Program access clearance within 365 days from submission.

Salary Information

Primary Level Salary Range: $79,600.00 – $119,400.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $98,900.00 – $148,300.00
