Job summary

Depew Union Free School District is seeking a Per Diem Registered Nurse (RN) to provide temporary nursing coverage across the district for the 2026–2027 school year. The RN will oversee daily health office operations, respond to student medical needs, administer medications, and help ensure a safe school environment in accordance with NYS regulations.

Ideal candidates hold an active NYS RN license, current CPR/BLS certification, and the ability to work independently.

Qualifications

• Active and valid New York State RN license is required.
• Current CPR and AED/BLS certification is required.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Assess and respond to student illnesses, injuries, and medical emergencies.
• Provide first aid and nursing interventions as appropriate.
• Monitor students with chronic health conditions and individualized health plans.
• Administer prescribed medications and emergency treatments per physician orders and district procedures.
• Maintain accurate, confidential student health records in accordance with FERPA and HIPAA.
• Document all nursing assessments, treatments, and communications thoroughly.
• Ensure medical supplies and emergency equipment are properly maintained.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, counselors, parents/guardians, and healthcare providers to support student health needs.
• Provide guidance regarding communicable diseases, wellness concerns, and student safety.
• Support district health initiatives and emergency preparedness protocols.
• Promote a healthy and safe learning environment; respond during emergencies and health situations.

Position Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

Student Health & Clinical Care

• Assess and respond to student illnesses, injuries, and medical emergencies
• Provide first aid and nursing interventions as appropriate

Qualifications:
