The Michigan State Police is seeking a Department of State Aide to assist customers with requests and applications. This full-time position involves processing transactions and educating citizens about services. Candidates must be available for a varied schedule and pass background checks. POSITION DUTIES - The Department of State Aide will service customers by reviewing requests, eligibility, and application requirements; processing transactions; educating customers on services and alternative methods; and working with a sense of purpose, urgency, and accuracy for Michigan citizens. APPOINTMENT TYPE/BENEFITS - This position is Full-Time. Therefore, you would be eligible to participate in the benefits offered by the state.
WORK SCHEDULE - As a Full-Time position, the incumbent(s) will work a varied schedule of 40+ hours per week. Occasional travel may be required for relief assignments at other branch offices.

Education
Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.
Experience
Level 6 - No specific type or amount is required.
Level 7 - One year of experience equivalent to a Department of State Aide 6.
Level E8 - Two years of experience equivalent to a Department of State Aide, including one year at the Department of State Aide 7.

Civil Service Commission Rule 2-7 mandates that all newly hired state employees pass a pre-employment drug test prior to appointment. Criminal background checks will also be conducted, and employment is conditional upon clearance.
Designations such as CDLKTEX and SECCHDPOS require additional background checks, training, and certifications, including U.S. citizenship verification, CDL training, and background investigations as per federal and state laws.
For security-sensitive positions, proof of U.S. Citizenship is required, with acceptable documents including birth certificates, passports, or naturalization certificates. The documents must match the legal name and date of birth, and any name changes must be legally documented.
