A leading company is seeking a dedicated public services maintenance worker in Belleville, Michigan. The role involves supporting the maintenance of Township facilities and working outdoors in all weather conditions. Applicants should have strong communication skills and relevant experience in maintenance or utilities management.
Supporting the Residents, Director of Public Services, and Township Public Service function with varied responsibilities from the general maintenance of the Township-owned properties, water supply, established sewer system, storm sewers, waste sites, and all Township facilities, including parks. Provides residents with a positive first impression on behalf of the Township and Department.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
This position will have the following;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to deal effectively with the general public, property owners, and other visitors to the department.
Ability to coordinate work involving other Township department representatives.
May occasionally require dealing with angry citizens/property owners.
Ability to learn operations, services, and activities of a water distribution system and maintenance program.
Knowledge of basic computer operations, including operating systems and varying software applications.
Ability to operate a variety of equipment, including vehicles and system maintenance equipment, in a safe and effective manner, which includes operating hand and power tools.
This is a highly demanding physical position, requiring a full range of motion and the use of both fine and gross muscles of the body. The employee is required to reach overhead and work bent or stooped for extended periods of time.
The employee is regularly required to lift objects of ± 20 pounds and occasionally lift objects over 75 pounds.
Primarily performs work outdoors in all types of weather, where conditions may be dirty, uncomfortable, and hazardous, and in-doors in a noisy and hazardous environment where there is exposure to physical hazards from loud noises, chemical, electrical and mechanical systems, domestic wastewater, confined spaces, traffic, and other dangers.
DESIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
This position’s candidate will possess the following;
High school completion and a minimum of two years of relevant experience and education that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job.
Must possess a valid Michigan Driver’s License at the time of employment and be able to meet the Township’s driving standards and ability to obtain a Michigan Chauffeur’s License.
Must obtain an S-4 Michigan Department of Environmental Quality License within one (1) year of hire.
