The Elon University Department of Physical Therapy Education and the School of Health Sciences announce the availability of two full-time tenure-track or continuing track positions at the Associate or Assistant Professor level to join a dynamic, private, in-person institution with a national model recognized for actively engaging students and faculty in teaching and learning.

Due to retirements, we invite applications for two full-time, tenure or continuing track faculty positions at the Associate or Assistant Professor level. The department of 14 full-time and 6 part-time highly qualified, dynamic faculty is interested in recruiting individuals with demonstrated excellent teaching and clinical experience, preferably in Anatomical Sciences or Musculoskeletal physical therapy practice, directing the Elon Sports Physical Therapy Residency, and other courses based on departmental need and areas of expertise. Candidates with experience in prosthetics and orthotics, integumentary, clinical reasoning, and clinical imaging will also be considered. Experience with post-professional mentoring is preferred. Additional responsibilities include academic advising, student mentoring, and service to the department, school, and university. The successful candidate will have effective interpersonal and communication skills, as well as a commitment to collaborative teamwork and professional growth. The start date for these positions is negotiable.

Successful candidates will have:

  • Commitment to inclusive professional and educational practices
  • Clinical, educational, or mentorship experience in residency or fellowship for the Musculoskeletal position
  • Evidence of engaged teaching practices including experience with donor-based Anatomy instruction for the Anatomical Sciences position

About the School of Health Sciences:

The School of Health Sciences was established in 2011 and includes graduate programs in Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant Studies and Clinical Mental Health Counseling in addition to the four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing. About the Department of Physical Therapy Education:

The Department of Physical Therapy Education (DPTE) enjoys a strong collaborative partnership with nearby Cone Health-Alamance Regional Medical Center. The Department includes an accredited Sports Physical Therapy Residency with a Division 1 athletic setting, opportunities for global learning, and a dedicated student research coordinator. The DPTE occupies approximately 32,000 square feet with equipment for teaching and research, such as MSK ultrasound, DEXA scanner, strength and balance measuring systems, a markerless 3D motion capture system which includes 12 cameras and a 16-channel wireless EMG system, two force plates for gait analysis, a Woodway Pro-Treadmill, instrumented walkways, a body-weight support rehabilitation system, and a Galileo whole-body vibration training device.

The DPTE houses the Health Outreach Program of Elon (HOPE Clinic). Serving patients since 2013, the HOPE Clinic is a student-managed pro bono clinic offering free physical therapy services to those who are uninsured or underinsured in Alamance County and surrounding areas.
