Part-time lecturers are responsible for teaching assigned courses, including all class sessions as scheduled, and must be available outside of class for student discussions. They are expected to provide course materials on Canvas, assess student work, and assign grades.
Lecturers may teach introductory geology, general education courses, laboratory and lecture classes, and upper-division courses. Teaching modalities may include in-person, online, or hybrid formats, depending on the course assigned.
The position holder is considered a mandated reporter under California law and must comply with CSU Executive Order 1083. A background check is required before employment, and failure to pass may result in withdrawal of the offer.

The Department of Geological Sciences includes six full-time faculty and two lecturers. It offers B.A., B.S., and M.S. degrees and is located near the San Andreas Fault, providing rich field trip opportunities.
