Job summary

Shriners Children’s is seeking a Department Assistant - Scribe to provide comprehensive administrative and clinical support, primarily serving as a scribe during patient encounters and assisting with departmental operations to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality patient care.

The role involves accompanying physicians to the exam room, transcribing history and physicals, documenting encounters, and recording orders and procedures.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 1 year plus related work experience.
• Experience with Medical Terminology.
• Recognition of physical exam process and ability to record exam details.
• EPIC experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Accompanies physician into patient examination room to transcribe history and physical exam and document encounter.
• Lists diagnoses, symptoms, follow-up instructions and prescriptions as dictated by the physician.
• Transcribes patient orders including laboratory tests, radiology tests, medications, etc.
• Documents procedures performed by the physician.
