Job summary

City and County of Denver’s Office of the Medical Examiner seeks a Forensic Pathology Fellow for the 2028-2029 academic year. The fellow will perform medicolegal autopsies, review cases, and order tests under supervision to determine causes and manners of death.

This 24/7 on-site role supports legal and public health investigations. Requirements include an MD/DO and completion of an ACGME-approved residency in anatomical/clinical pathology.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
• ACGME approved postgraduate residency in anatomical pathology or anatomical pathology/clinical pathology by start date.
• Eligible for Colorado licensure; board certification or eligibility required by start date.

Responsibilities

• Reviews deaths reported to the Office of the Medical Examiner and determines autopsy vs. visual exam.
• Performs medicolegal autopsies with supervision and interprets diagnostic tests.
• Shares on-call duties, responds to death scenes, and discusses tissue procurement.
