Purpose of Job

Improve the overall health of the communities we serve by providing dental care to patients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs diagnostic, surgical, restorative, and various preventative services.
  • Understands and follows infection control procedures.
  • Reviews medical histories at each visit.
  • Consults with the patient’s health care provider or another clinic provider as needed.
  • Diagnoses dental disease and oral pathology, develops a written treatment plan, and prioritizes treatments.
  • Explains the course of treatment to the patient, soliciting input and agreement.
  • Balances treatment plan on patient needs and desires in conjunction with clinic resources.
  • Ensures all prescriptions and medication advice adhere to community standards and NEW Health protocols.
  • Recommends dental equipment changes and additions.
  • Participates in developing and implementing provider productivity standards.
  • Attends staff meetings and in‑service training.
  • Represents NEW Health at conferences, meetings, and continuing education programs.
  • Acts as a preceptor for dental assisting, hygiene, and dental students as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Travel may be required.
Qualifications
  • Completion of an ADA‑accredited dental program.
  • Valid dentist license in the state of Washington upon hire.
  • Minimum two years of experience.
  • Previous experience working with underserved populations is desired.
  • Certification through the Drug Enforcement Agency required.
  • Must secure credentialing through identified agencies (e.g., Medicaid).
  • Excellent customer service, oral, and written communication skills required.
  • Computer skills required.
  • BLS certification required.
Physical Demands

•Stand for one‑third of the day; sit or be mobile for one‑third to two‑thirds of the time.
•Use hands to finger, handle, or feel for over two‑thirds of the time, with reaching, climbing, balancing, kneeling, or crouching less than one‑third of the time.
•Communicate by talking/hearing over two‑thirds of the day.
•Smell between one‑third and two‑thirds of the day.
•Excellent vision (with or without correction) and hand‑eye coordination required.
•Lift or exert force about 30% of the time for up to 10 lbs; rarely more than 11 lbs.
