Additional Information About The Role

St. Louis Children's Hospital and Healthy Kids Express Dental Program are seeking a Community Outreach Dentist to join our growing team.

The BJC Children's Hospital Healthy Kids Program serves thousands of patients daily across the St. Louis area. Healthy Kids Express has expanded over the years to include vans focusing on asthma education and care, dental care and treatment, and preventive screenings.

Practice Highlights for Healthy Kids Dental Program:
  • M-F 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (first patient scheduled at 9 a.m.)
  • Typically 4 days servicing the community and 1 office day
  • Visit one site per day; 40-50 different sites per year
  • See ages 3 to 21
  • Occasional weekend and evening events from March through October
Support Staff Includes:
  • 2 Dental Assistants per Dentist
  • Van Driver
  • Administrative Assistant (oversees scheduling/answers phones) based at the office
  • Community Health Workers

Preferred Qualifications
Role Purpose

Diagnose, prevent, and treat dental and oral tissue problems. Must have a Pediatric Dentistry certificate from an accredited U.S. or Canadian program and be eligible for a specialty license in pediatric dentistry.

Responsibilities
  • Provide optimal patient care, diagnose, and fulfill dental consulting requests.
  • Record procedures and relevant information in patient records.
  • Supervise and evaluate clinic staff.
  • Establish effective working relationships with colleagues and external providers.
  • Educate patients and families about dental health hygiene.
  • This is a safety-sensitive position; alertness and safety are essential.
Minimum Requirements

Education: Doctorate, DDS/DMD from an accredited dental school.

Experience: None required for supervision; preferred 5-10 years.

Licenses & Certifications: ADA membership, Missouri dental license, Peds Dentistry Board eligibility/certification.
