Description of Work

The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections is seeking dentists to provide basic dental care at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Coal Township. The role offers clinical autonomy, work‑life balance, and exceptional staff support.

• Clinical Care: Provide examinations, diagnose oral diseases, and deliver dental treatment to inmates
• Staff Oversight: Supervise the daily work of assigned dental staff
• Treatment Support: Assist specialists during on‑site procedures
• Security Compliance: Maintain required tool control, security measures, and material handling procedures
• Patient Consultation: Consult with and refer patients to physicians, oral surgeons, and other health care professionals

Work Schedule and Benefits

• Full‑time employment, 37.5 hours per week
• Work hours: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday‑Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch break. No evenings, weekends, or on‑call duties.
• Eligible for full retirement benefits as early as age 55
• DEA license renewal and liability insurance are covered by the Commonwealth
• Up to 50 hours of additional paid leave for job‑related continuing medical education
• Telework: Not available for this position
• Salary: Competitive, with potential yearly incentive payments (Quality Assurance Payments)

Required Experience, Training & Eligibility

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved school of dentistry
• Applicants within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree will be considered to have met the educational requirements

• PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title
