Job description

Summary

The Dentist is assigned as a staff dentist or dental specialist and reports to the Director - Dental Care Clinical Center and/or the Dental Division Chief. The incumbent functions as an equal member within the larger team of staff dentists and auxiliary staff. Individuals with specialized training in a particular area of expertise may be assigned responsibilities for that subspecialty and may function as the primary clinician or subject matter expert.

Duties
  • VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package.
  • Scope of practice duties include but are not limited to:
  • Comprehensive prosthodontics examination, consultation, and overall restorative treatment planning.
  • Routine and complex complete and partial dentures and overdentures.
  • Fixed and removable prostheses involving precision and semi-precision attachments.
  • Fixed and removable implant-supported prostheses.
  • Prosthodontic treatment of malposed teeth, occlusal plane discrepancies, and changes to the existing vertical dimension of occlusion with or without concomitant restoration of anterior guidance.
  • Full coverage and partial coverage indirect restorations utilizing available restorative materials.
  • Oral reconstruction, including but not limited to, opposing quadrants restored with fixed prostheses, techniques involving functionally generated path or fully adjustable instruments.
  • Complete dentures involving complicated occlusal schemes and cast metal bases or occlusal surfaces.
  • Single unit complete dentures opposing natural dentition (complicated cases).
  • Dentures on surgically augmented residual ridges.
  • Nonsurgical management of temporomandibular disorders.
  • Minor tooth movement (fixed appliances).
  • Intraoral maxillofacial prostheses and repairs.
  • Prostheses on intraoral osseointegrated fixtures.
  • Treatment of Sleep Apnea.
  • Management of Class III and IV cases per the Prosthodontic Diagnostic Index.
  • Basic dental extractions and periodontal procedures.
  • Treatment planning of dental implants.
  • Provides guidance to general dentists, dental specialists, and residents on treatment planning and procedures.
  • Supervision of dental residents.
  • Provides on-call hospital coverage for dental emergencies.
Work Schedule

M-F 8:00am - 4:30pm.
