Summary
This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT. Applications will be referred once every 15 days. The duty location for the Dentist - Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon is at Sepulveda Dental Clinic. The Oral Maxillofacial Surgeon must be American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery board certified or eligible, have completed an ADA-accredited DDS/DMD program, possess a minimum of 4 years in an ADA-accredited Oral Surgery program, and hold a valid state license.
Duties
- VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package.
- The individual will be experienced and competent in all phases of OMS, including but not limited to dentoalveolar surgery, complex dental extractions, treatment of orofacial infections, trauma, preprosthetic surgery, placement of osseointegrated implants, diagnostic procedures, surgical treatment of oral and maxillofacial pathosis, and grafting procedures.
- The individual must be proficient in assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and post-treatment care in all the above areas.
- Must be trained and competent in providing IV moderate sedation and certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
- Must be able to manage medically complex patients, including inpatients, and perform comprehensive history and physical examinations.
- Proficiency in assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and post-treatment care is required.
- Must be able to work collegially with other dentists and physicians, possessing interpersonal and professional skills to collaborate with residents in OMS, other dental specialties, and General Practice Dental Residents.
- Assignment includes advanced use of computerized record systems.
- Oversees and assigns duties to Dental Assistants assigned to the OMS.
- Develops and supervises a rotation program for university-affiliated students, residents, and VA Dental Residents to improve operational efficiency and professional development opportunities.
- Evaluates employee performance and reports findings to the first-line supervisor of the Dental Assistants.
- Notifies the Supervisory Dental Assistant of any Dental Assistants with marginal or unsatisfactory performance.
