A vacancy exists in the Bureau of Clinical Services, Department of Health and Human Services.

Proof of licenses, certifications, and/or education must be submitted with each application.Under general supervision, practices professional dentistry and directs the activities of a County dental clinic.

  • In clinical and school settings, examines patients, diagnoses dental diseases, recognizes medical conditions manifested orally, and renders appropriate treatments. Performs a variety of intraoral dental services in the practice of clinical dentistry consistent with established standards. Prescribes medications.
  • Supervises dentists, dental hygienists, and dental assistants in providing appropriate treatment and care of patients. Participates in the training and orientation of professional and support staff.
  • Administers the daily operations of a clinic, including the supervision of staff, the maintenance of supplies, and the scheduling and receiving of patients. Oversees the collection and handling of fees.
  • Prepares and reviews patient case histories, and other records and reports. Consults with other health care providers regarding patient treatments. Refers cases as necessary.
  • Supervises the exposure and development of dental radiographs. Interprets dental radiographs.
Examples of Other Duties
May represent the County on various boards and committees. Performs other related duties as required.

Graduation from a college or university accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association with a degree of doctor of dental surgery, doctor of dental medicine, or an equivalent, plus four years' experience in the practice of dentistry.

OR

Possession of a valid license to practice dentistry issued by the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners, plus four years' experience in the practice of dentistry.

Licenses and Certificates
Possession of a valid license to practice dentistry issued by the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners is required at the time of appointment. Possession of an approved CPR certification is required at the time of appointment. Possession of a valid driver's license equivalent to a noncommercial, class C Maryland driver's license is required at the time of appointment.

Applicants are required to submit proof of licenses, certifications and education beyond high school to meet the required and preferred qualifications of the position. Diplomas or transcripts must show the applicant’s major field of study. Copies and unofficial transcripts are acceptable.

EXAMINATION PROCEDURE
Applicants will be qualified based on an evaluation of their training and experience, as stated on their application, which includes answers to the supplemental questions. Physical and Environmental Conditions
The work of this classification includes the performance of physical activities such as walking, standing, and bending and the operation of dental equipment and instruments. Duties may expose incumbents to various bio-medical hazards.
