Job summary

SWLA Center for Health Services is seeking a Dentist to examine patients, diagnose dental conditions, prescribe or direct therapy, and refer to specialists as needed. The role includes educating patients on oral health and disease prevention.

The dentist will work under the Chief Dental Officer, applying a broad range of dental medicine, education, prevention, cure and rehabilitation activities while participating in quality assurance and community health education programs.

Qualifications

• DDS/DMD degree from an approved school of dentistry
• Must be licensed to practice in Louisiana
• CPR certification required

Responsibilities

• Record patient-dentist transactions in the medical/dental record.
• Attend staff meetings and participate in quality assurance program.
• Assist in continuing education, on-the-job training and orientation of staff.
• Provide health education to the community as requested.
• Work under supervision of Dental Director; performance evaluated via QA program.
• Handle broad functions of dental medicine, education, prevention, cure, and rehabilitation.
• Recognize risks including infectious diseases and exposure to dental materials and equipment.
• Educate and motivate patients to accept recommended therapies.

Education

Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD)

Licensed to practice dentistry in Louisiana

CPR certified
