Job description

Job Title: Dentist

Salary: Starting at $80.00 per hour DOE

Location: Tustin (Mobile Unit)

Openings: 1 Position Available

Position Purpose: The Dentist provides direct dental care to the patients. Examine, diagnose, and treat diseases, injuries, and malformations of teeth and gums. May treat diseases of nerve, pulp, and other dental tissues affecting oral hygiene and retention of teeth. It may fit dental appliances or provide preventive care.

Core Duties and responsibilities, include but are not limited to:


  1. Use masks, gloves, and safety glasses to protect patients and self from infectious diseases.

  2. Examine teeth, gums, and related tissues, using dental instruments, x-rays, or other diagnostic equipment, to evaluate dental health, diagnose diseases or abnormalities, and plan appropriate treatments.

  3. Administer anesthetics to limit the amount of pain experienced by patients during procedures.

  4. Use dental air turbines, hand instruments, dental appliances, or surgical implements.

  5. Formulate plan of treatment for patient's teeth and mouth tissue.

  6. Diagnose and treat diseases, injuries, or malformations of teeth, gums, or related oral structures and provide preventive or corrective services.

  7. Advise or instruct patients regarding preventive dental care, the causes and treatment of dental problems, or oral health care services.

  8. Ability to remain calm under pressure

  9. Design, make, or fit prosthodontic appliances, such as space maintainers, bridges, or dentures, or write fabrication instructions or prescriptions for denturists or dental technicians.

  10. Fill pulp chamber and canal with endodontic materials.

  11. Treat exposure of pulp by pulp capping, removal of pulp from pulp chamber, or root canal, using dental instruments.

  12. Remove diseased tissue using surgical instruments.

  13. Analyze or evaluate dental needs to determine changes or trends in patterns of dental disease.

  14. Eliminate irritating margins of fillings and correct occlusions using dental instruments.

  15. Plan, organize, or maintain dental health programs.

  16. Bleach, clean, or polish teeth to restore natural color.

  17. Produce or evaluate dental health educational materials.

  18. Prescribe medication as needed

  19. Promote good oral health and preventive dental care (e.g. by scheduling regular check-ups)

  20. Be able to see 20 to 25 patients daily

  21. A pleasant and compassionate personality with the ability to make patients feel comfortable

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:


  1. Must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily

  2. A pleasant and compassionate personality with the ability to make patients feel comfortable
  1. Outstanding oral and written communication skills, ability to work effectively with children and adults, Bilingual Spanish preferred.
  2. Excellent communications and public speaking skills and ability to represent FTOC to a broad public
  3. Results-oriented, adept at planning, prioritizing, organizing and following through.
  4. Able to work with Children.

Education and Training:

  • DDS, DMD or DD Required
  • Current License to practice dentistry
  • Valid Malpractice Liability Insurance
  • Minimum 5 years’ Clinical experience at a Dental Practice

Work Schedule:


  • General work hours are Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., however, start times will vary, depending on organizational, staffing, community, and patient needs.
  • Work schedules are subject to change based on organizational, staffing, community, and patient needs. As such, FTOC may need to modify work schedules to meet such needs.
  • Saturday work schedules will also be effected or implemented due to organizational, staffing, community, and patient needs as FTOC continues to grow and expand work days and hours.
  • Overtime may also occur due to organizational, staffing, community, and patient needs.

Work Location:


  • Staff will be assigned to the primary site of the Mobile Units you may be required to temporarily fill in at another site based on organizational, staffing, community, and patient needs.

Travel Requirements:


  • Occasional travel will be required for this position. Must be able to travel to FTOC sites as needed, including short notice.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to drive to FTOC facilities as needed. The ability to sit for extended periods of time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
