Job summary

The Port-Gamble-S dental clinic in Washington seeks a DDS/DMD to provide comprehensive routine dental care and lead the clinic when the Chief Dental Officer is unavailable.

You will maintain patient records in the EHR, engage families in prevention programs, support health promotion activities, and participate in quality improvement initiatives while supervising staff as needed.

Qualifications

• DDS or DMD from an accredited dental school.
• Certification from an accredited General Practice residency or 2 years’ relevant experience.
• Minimum of two years of directly related dental work experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively and maintain patient confidentiality.

Job Summary:Provides dental patient care to all eligible recipients. Provides guidance to dental staff. Ensures that the provision of dental services takes place in a professional, compassionate environment.Duties:ClinicalProvides comprehensive routine dental care services to dental patients.Provides leadership for the Dental Clinic when the Chief Dental Officer is not available.Establishes and maintains contact with patients and families to ensure participation in a regular prevention program.Follow upDocuments care in patient care electronic health record.Communicates with patients by telephone and written correspondence if necessary.Modifies plan of care with patient/family to achieve optimal health in conjunction with established treatment protocols.Health PromotionRecommends and provides preventative maintenance appropriate for age and risk factors.Discusses lifestyle changes that will promote well-being and health.Participates and provides insight in conjunction with Health Clinic and Health Services management.Participates in health promotion activities in the larger community as time permits.EducationEnhances participation in self-care by providing patient and family health education.Quality ImprovementParticipates in quality assurance review activities as determined by the Chief Dental Officer.Maintains Certification and Licensure.Enhances current knowledge base by attending continuing education programs as deemed necessary.May supervise staff at times when Chief Dental Officer is unavailable.Provide input for productivity, utilization rates, new users and submission of necessary information to Accounting for service reimbursement. Recommend and implement improvements related to increased productivity, cost-effectiveness, improved patient care and quality control.Work in conjunction with Hygienist, medical, and WIC to support dental access for children.As time permits, participation in quality assurance and improvement activities as outlined by annual indicators, problem reviews, grant/contract requirements, chart audits, and patient complaints.Maintain dental referral linkages in the community.Other duties as assigned related to position.Qualifications:Requires a DDS or DMD from a dental school accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation and either a certificate from an accredited General Practice residency program or 2 years of responsible experience in the profession.Requires a minimum of two (2) years of directly related work experience.Knowledge of theories, principles and application as necessary to develop and implement a full service dental care program; professional dental care ethics and principles, practices and procedures required to assess the needs of a wide range of patients in the community; principles of effective supervision.Able to communicate effectively; deal tactfully and patiently with patients; maintain patient charts and records; maintain confidentiality; establish and maintain an effective working relationship with patients, pharmacies, laboratories, other departments and employees; effectively coach employees toward maximum performance; provide input to develop, write and evaluate dental care policies and procedures.Physical Requirements:Regularly required to finger, handle, reach with hands and armsFrequently required to walk, sit, standOccasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 poundsNormal audio and visual acuityTravel Requirements:Local, Statewide, and out-of-state may be required
