POSITION SUMMARY

The Dentist provides dental services and directs patient care to inmates, including clinical examinations upon admission and treatment of inmates' dental needs as indicated.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Perform and interpret radiographic exams as indicated.
  • Provide dental treatments, including emergency care, oral surgery, restorative dentistry, and periodontal therapy within the scope of a general Dentist, including extractions.
  • Address significant oral health issues that may adversely affect inmate health as deemed necessary.
  • Make proper referrals for procedures that cannot be performed at the facility.
  • Report any unusual occurrences or accidents to the site or Regional Medical Director. Attend training and meetings as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Maintain a current DEA number.
  • Be currently licensed in the state.
  • Be fluent in English, including reading, writing, speaking, and understanding.
  • Support teamwork and demonstrate collaborative skills.
  • Make independent decisions when necessary.
  • Deal tactfully with personnel, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the public.
  • Possess leadership and supervisory abilities and work harmoniously with others.
  • Must not pose a health or safety threat to others in the workplace.
