Job summary

Codman Square Health Center Inc. is seeking a Dentist responsible for diagnosing and treating diseases of teeth and gums in outpatients.

You will educate patients on oral healthcare and perform comprehensive exams, preventive, restorative, endodontic, fixed/removable prosthodontic, pediatric, and oral surgery treatments. You will assess treatment options, discuss plans with patients, maintain records, precept dental student externs and AEGD residents, and participate in quality improvement.

Qualifications

  • Unrestricted license, DMD or DDS from CODA accredited school.
  • Valid CPR – BLS for healthcare provider.
  • Dental license to practice in MA; MA controlled substance and DEA numbers.

Description

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Dental Director, the Dentist is responsible for providing oral care to outpatients by diagnosing and treating diseases, injuries, and malformations of the teeth and gums.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Educate patients on oral healthcare
  • Complete comprehensive dental exams and diagnose and treat diseases, injuries, or malformations of teeth, gums, or related oral structures.
  • Provide comprehensive preventive, restorative, endodontic, fixed and removable prosthodontic, pediatric, and oral surgery treatment
  • Assess treatment planning options and discuss with patients
  • Carry out agreed clinical treatments and analyze or evaluate dental needs to determine changes or trends in patterns of dental disease during the course of treatment.
  • Maintain patients' dental records
  • Precept dental student externs and AEGD residents
  • Assist in the recruitment, training and management of auxiliary dental staff
  • Stay abreast of new developments in dentistry through structured continuing professional development
  • Participate in case reviews to ensure the delivery of quality care
  • Participate in quality improvement projects

Requirements

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Unrestricted license, DMD or DDS, from CODA certified school
  • Valid CPR – BLS for healthcare provider
  • Dental licensed to practice in MA
  • Current MA controlled substance and DEA numbers
  • Requires a comprehensive knowledge of primary dental care in outpatient settings.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practice of modern dentistry as related to public health organizations and community health programs as well as current social and economic problems pertaining to public health and their impact on primary health care.
  • The Dentist must be able to creatively work with other health care professionals from a variety of disciplines to achieve maximal productivity and programmatic effectiveness while continuously promoting the growth and development of fellow professionals, exercising appropriate supervisory control, and displaying good work judgment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand or sit for prolonged periods (at least 50% of the time)
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and load onto shelves
  • Visual acuity sufficient for frequent reading and computer use
