Job summary

Angell Animal Medical Center is seeking an experienced Assistant or Certified Veterinary Technician for our growing dentistry service. The role supports the dental team, monitors anesthesia, takes radiographs, and assists with dental cleanings and appointments.

We value collaboration with doctors and staff, training of interns, and delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment. CVT certification is required; two years of experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Two years of experience as a veterinary technician/assistant preferred.
  • Candidate must be a certified veterinary technician.
  • Recent graduates from an accredited veterinary technology program are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in anesthesia monitoring, radiographs, and dental scale and polish.
  • Assist the dental veterinarian with appointments and administrative tasks.
  • Provide technical support during emergencies and with intensive anesthetic monitoring.
  • Demonstrate strong technical skills in venipuncture, IV placement, intubation, CPR, and patient handling.

Dental Veterinary Technician or Assistant

Angell Animal Medical Center is looking for an experienced Assistant or Certified Veterinary Technician for our growing specialty service in dentistry.

The Position

The Veterinary Dental Technician/Assistant works closely with the Dental Staff, Dental Supervisor, Dental Veterinarians, the veterinary staff and hospital support staff from other departments. The primary responsibility of the Veterinary Dental Technician/Assistant is to provide the highest quality dental care to the patients of the Angell Animal Medical Center in the Dental Service. The Veterinary Dental Technician/Assistant must work in conjunction with a team of doctors and technicians to provide support and direction for the interns and residents.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in procedures by performing anesthesia monitoring, radiographs, and dental scale and polish, and assisting the dental veterinarian with appointments and other administrative tasks such as phone calls to clients.
  • Obtain proficiency in all tasks & procedures outlined in the anesthetic skill checklist; undergo training in surgery/anesthesia protocols before transferring to Dentistry.
  • Utilize technical and clinical expertise to assess, induce, monitor and stabilize all dental, emergent, and urgent case types.
  • Demonstrate and model strong technical skills including venipuncture, IV catheter placement, intubation, CPR procedures, and proper patient restraint/handling.
  • Provide technical support during emergency situations and arrests and with patients requiring intensive anesthetic monitoring.
Qualifications

Applicants should ideally have 2 years of experience working as a veterinary technician/assistant. Candidates must be a certified veterinary technician. Recent graduates from an accredited veterinary technology program are encouraged to apply.

Compensation

Veterinary Assistants starting $22-$27/hour
Certified Veterinary Technicians starting $25-$30/hour, $5000 Sign on Bonus for CVTs!
Candidates with additional experience or credentials may be eligible for higher compensation.
