Job summary

Merrimack Veterinary Hospital offers a Veterinary Externship designed to give veterinary students exposure to day-to-day practice operations and hands-on clinical experience. Externs will rotate through sick and wellness appointments and assist with surgery, developing basic proficiency in dental radiography while collaborating with our team.

Externships typically last two to eight weeks and welcome veterinary students at any year.

Qualifications

• Externship experience at an NVA hospital will give students the unique opportunity to understand the day‑to‑day operations of the practice, and to gain valuable hands‑on clinical experience.
• Externs will rotate through sick and wellness appointments and assist with surgery.
• They should be able to develop a basic proficiency with dental radiography while working with us.
• Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules.
• All Veterinary students (regardless of class year) are encouraged to participate in NVA externships.
• Veterinary students who are in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend.
