Job description

Job Details

Dental Surgical Assistant to members of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the resident staff. Provide chairside surgical support for oral and maxillofacial surgery procedures and facial pain physicians. Perform a wide variety of oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures with competency.

Interact with co-workers, visitors, and staff consistent with Jefferson's values.

Provide surgical support to oral and maxillofacial surgeons and facial pain physicians. Sterilize instrumentation and prepare tray setups. Set up required instrumentation in a sterile environment.

Maintain logs for inspections and certifications per OMFS workflows. Reprocess and sterilize equipment and prepare tray set-up per protocol. Maintain sterile technique during procedures.

Proficient in radiographs such as CBCT, peri-apical, and Panorex x-rays. Take, order, and document radiographs appropriately. Follow clinical policies, procedures, and workflows to ensure compliance with the Joint Commission, OSHA, ADA, TJUH Safety, Infection Control, and Quality Assurance.

Maintain patient electronic medical records per OMFS charting workflows. Ensure patient safety following BLS guidelines and maintain current BLS certification.

Job Requirements:

  • Education: High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Certifications: BLS through the American Heart Association required; PA Certification in Oral Radiology required within 90 days of hire; Dental Assistant Diploma preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years' experience preferred, especially in oral and maxillofacial surgery. Must have excellent interpersonal skills, knowledge of medical terminology, and experience with medically compromised individuals.

Work Shift: Day shift in the United States.

Location: 909 Walnut Street, Philadelphia, PA.
