Job summary

Jefferson Health is seeking a Dental Surgical Assistant to support oral and maxillofacial surgeons. You will provide chairside assistance, maintain sterile technique, and manage instrument reprocessing while documenting patient charts and imaging.

The role involves travel between offices and adherence to safety and QA policies. Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, BLS certification, and PA Radiology certification within 90 days; a Dental Assistant Diploma is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• PA Certification in Oral Radiology must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Dental Assistant Diploma is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide chairside surgical support during procedures and sessions.
• Sterilize instrumentation, prepare surgical trays, and maintain a sterile environment.
• Maintain logs for inspections and certifications per OMFS workflows.
• Reprocess/sterilize equipment and prepare tray setups per protocol.
• Maintain sterile technique while assisting in surgical procedures.
• Use radiographic equipment (CBCT, peri-apical, Panorex) and document images.
• Follow Joint Commission, OSHA, ADA, TJUH Safety, Infection Control and QA policies.
• Maintain patient electronic medical records per OMFS charting workflows.
• Ensure patient safety following BLS guidelines and maintain current BLS certification.
• Interact with co-workers, visitors, and staff in line with Jefferson values.
