Job summary

Metropolitan Endodontics is seeking a reliable Dental Sterilization Technician to support our clinical team by ensuring all operatories, instruments and equipment are properly cleaned, sterilized, and prepared for patient care.

This full-time role emphasizes inventory, sterilization, OSHA compliance, and assisting the team with timely instrument preparation across operatories to maintain a safe, efficient dental environment.

Responsibilities

  • Sterilize non-instrument items for procedures.
  • Take inventory and stock supplies and instruments.
  • Sort and store sterilized instruments appropriately.
  • Assemble instrument trays per patient care needs.
  • Transport trays to operatories as required.
  • Follow Universal Precautions for infectious waste.
  • Maintain equipment and operatories in clean condition.
  • Perform tests and maintenance to meet standards.
  • Maintain OSHA daily/weekly/monthly records.
  • Assist other team members as needed.
  • Make care calls for previous day’s patients if needed.
  • Wear protective gear per OSHA guidelines.
  • Accept other duties delegated by the doctor.

Overview
Dental Sterilization Tech - Metropolitan Endodontics

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Dental Sterilization Technician to support our clinical team by ensuring all operatories, instruments and equipment are properly cleaned, sterilized, and prepared for patient care. This role is essential to maintaining a safe, compliant, and efficient dental environment.

Schedule: Full Time, 4 days per week (8.5 hour days)

Responsibilities

Essential Job Duties: Essential duties may include any of the following tasks, skills, and other characteristics. The following list is not intended as a comprehensive list, but rather to provide representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities. Metropolitan Endodontics reserves the right to revise or change job duties and responsibilities as the need arises. Prepare dental instruments for sterilization and decontamination and maintain them in strict accordance and compliance with OSHA protocols.

  • 1. Sterilize non-instrument items for surgical procedures.
  • 2. Take inventory and stock supplies, instruments and medications.
  • 3. Sort and store sterilized instruments and equipment in the appropriate areas.
  • 4. Assemble instrument trays with supplies and equipment according to patient care requirements. Transport trays to appropriate operatories and/or areas.
  • 5. Observe Universal Precautions regarding the handling of infectious waste.
  • 6. Maintain dental equipment and operatories in good, clean condition at all times.
  • 7. Perform all tests and maintenance on equipment required to meet licensing, accreditation, safety and infection control standards.
  • 8. Maintain daily, weekly and monthly OSHA records.
  • 9. Be available to other team members needing assistance.
  • 10. Perform care calls for the previous day’s treatment patients if needed.
  • 11. Maintain personal protection per OSHA guidelines as it pertains to personal safety. (i.e. protective clothing, eyewear, gloves, etc.)
  • 12. Assume responsibility for other expanded duties and responsibilities that may be delegated by the doctor.
  • 13. Must have familiarity with and follow all HIPAA rules and regulations.

  • 1. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
  • 2. Must be able to reach above shoulder level; must be able to bend, squat, sit, stand, stoop, crouch, reach, kneel, twist and turn
  • 3. Must be able to hear staff and speak clearly in order to communicate information to staff
  • 4. Must have sufficient near vision acuity to read material and computer screens and to distinguish between dental instruments to pass/exchange instruments between staff.
  • 5. Must have manual and physical dexterity to handle and pass dental instruments used in the provision of dental care.
  • 6. Must have manual and physical dexterity to operate a computer and handle paper documents.
