Virginia Family Dentistry - Part-Time Dental Hygienist

Virginia Family Dentistry is seeking a Part-Time Dental Hygienist (1-3 days) to join our Midlothian-288 office. *Signing bonus available.* Typical work hours are 8 am - 5 pm. We also have opportunities at other Richmond area locations for Full-time, Part-time, and Temporary roles. We welcome applications from Registered Dental Hygienists (RDH) in Virginia and recent graduates awaiting licensure.

Clinical Requirements for RDH
  • CPR certification (American Heart Association, Basic Life Support for healthcare providers)
  • Proficiency in hand instrumentation and ultrasonic inserts
  • Experience with digital radiographs and Dentrix Enterprise preferred
  • Scaling and Root planing skills
  • Certification to administer nitrous oxide and local anesthesia (Virginia Family Dentistry will support certification and ongoing education)
Essential Functions
  • Review daily schedule, prepare operatory, seat patients, update medical histories
  • Perform oral cancer screenings, take x-rays, apply fluoride treatments
  • Conduct prophylaxis, debridement, scaling, root planning, periodontal charting, and sealants as needed
  • Educate patients on oral health
  • Communicate treatment plans with patients and front desk
  • Schedule follow-up hygiene appointments
  • Record clinical notes and treatments in Dentrix
  • Adhere to OSHA, HIPAA, State Board, and sterilization protocols
Physical Demands

Hygienists must use their hands skillfully, have good eye-hand coordination, stand and walk for extended periods, and assist with patient transfers. The role demands physical activity involving the back, neck, arms, and vision.
