Job summary

Urban Health Plan in the Bronx, NY seeks a Dental Hygienist to join the Dental Department. You will clean teeth, examine oral areas, take x-rays, and educate patients on oral hygiene while maintaining patient records.

Qualified candidates are NYS registered, with local anesthesia certification, strong communication skills, and English/Spanish language ability preferred. This is a full-time, 8am-5pm position in the El Nuevo San Juan Health Center.

Qualifications

• Fully licensed NYS Dental Hygienist with active registration.
• Familiarity with dental terminology and general dentistry principles.
• Computer proficiency for charting and records.
• Local anesthesia certification required.
• Excellent communication skills; bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Examine gums and assess signs of periodontal disease.
• Clean deposits and stains from teeth and beneath gum margins.
• Apply fluorides and sealants to prevent decay.
• Provide clinical services and oral health education to patients.
• Review patient history and screen for oral cancer.

Job description

Position Summary

Joining our Dental Department, the Dental Hygienist will support quality dental services at our El Nuevo San Juan Health Center in the Bronx, NY. The Dental Hygienist will clean teeth and examine oral areas, head, and neck for signs of oral disease. The Dental Hygienist will also educate patients and families on oral hygiene, take and develops x-rays, and apply fluoride and sealants.

Minimum Qualifications

• NYS Registered Dental Hygienist.
• Familiarity with dental terminology and general principles of dentistry.
• Computer proficiency.
• Local Anesthesia certification.
• Excellent communication skills
• Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred

This is a full time role for 8am-5pm shifts/5 days per week.

Key Duties

• Examine gums using probes to locate periodontal recessed gums and signs of gum disease.
• Clean calcareous deposits, accretions, and stains from teeth and beneath margins of gums.
• Apply fluorides, sealants or other cavity-preventing agents to arrest dental decay.
• Provide clinical services or health education to improve and maintain the oral health of patients.
• Noting and reviewing patient medical history, and looking for indications of oral cancer.

Compensation: Minimum: $84,000 per year Maximum: $94,000 per year contingent upon years of experience.
