Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina College of Dental Medicine seeks a dental hygienist to provide comprehensive oral hygiene and periodontal care, perform exams, scale and root planing, polish, apply fluoride, and reinforce oral hygiene instructions.

You will capture radiographs using panoramic, periapical, and bitewing techniques, take intra-oral photographs, document in the EHR, maintain infection control, and assist dentists and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and three years experience or training in the dental field.
• Ability to perform standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lb and other safety tasks as described.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive oral examinations, chart restorations and conditions, cancer screening, and full periodontal probing.
• Expose and mount panoramic, periapical, and bitewing radiographs; use intra-oral camera.
• Maintain and sterilize dental hygiene instruments; stock operatory; ensure infection control.
• Plan hygiene recall and next restorative appointments; document planned visits in EHR.
• Perform other duties as directed by supervisor to achieve goals.
