Job description

Duties: Perform intra/extra-oral patient evaluations, record and update health history, chart existing oral conditions, scaling, root planing, administer local anesthesia, prophylaxis, coronal polishing and fluoride treatments. Educate patients in oral hygiene. Take and develop digital radiographs, maintain hygiene supplies, and inventory, instrument and equipment management as required. Perform at multi-locations as necessary. Flexibility in working hours and days is required.

Performance of clinical duties as directed by the dentist which include intra/extra-oral patient evaluations, update patient health history, chart existing oral conditions, scaling, root planing, administer local anesthesia, prophylaxis, coronal polishing & fluoride treatments. Take responsibility for all work activities; implements decisions that have been agreed upon; maintains confidentiality with sensitive information; acknowledges and learns from mistakes without blaming others;

Performing digital radiographs as directed by dentist. Educate patients in oral hygiene. Take & develop digital radiographs, maintain hygiene supplies, & inventory, instrument & equipment management as required. Perform at multi-locations as necessary. Flexibility in working hours & days is required. Consistently exhibit optimism and energy; learn new skills; professionally deals with personal discomfort in a changing work environment; willing to be flexible; remain calm in stressful situations.

Educate patients on oral health & adhere to clinical guidelines & practices as defined by PDPF & state licensing body. Act professionally and calmly at all times when interacting with others; consistently demonstrate concern and courtesy towards all; treat all people respectfully; take personal responsibility for correcting problems; follow up to ensure satisfaction with services provided. Remain calm in stressful situations. Demonstrate pleasant disposition that puts people at ease.

Ensure accurate usage of inventory and instrument management and adherence to infection control standards & safety training. Work collegially with others, cooperating in both interpersonal and team relationships; foster enthusiasm and maintains mutual trust, candor and respect. Foster a sense of collegial partnership and teamwork. Encourage cooperation & establishes common ground to achieve larger organization objectives. Work well as a member of a team.

Maintain accurate and sterile operatory and equipment maintenance & management. Express oneself clearly and effectively when speaking and/or writing to individuals or groups; listen attentively; ensure that information is understood by all parties; share information in a timely manner using the most appropriate method; present well-organized information in a group setting. Maintain a constructive, open dialogue with others and speak with candor.

Qualifications: An Associate's Degree or two year college equivalent and 3 years to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
CPR certification, employment clearance through the State of PA to work on/with children: as determined through Pennsylvania Criminal Background Check, Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance and FBI Finger Printing Database is required. Experience with AxiUm preferred. Ability to accommodate different scheduling requirements based on the operational needs of the Penn Dental Family Practice.
