What You'll Do:

  • Patient Assessment: Conducting oral health assessments on patients of all ages, taking patient histories, completing periodontal charting and performing oral cancer screenings.
  • Performing prophylaxis, scaling and root planning, debridement, placing sealants and applying fluoride and other cavity-prevention treatments.
  • Patient Education: Instructing patients and families on proper oral hygiene techniques, including brushing, flossing, and the use of other dental aids, as well as providing dietary counseling and smoking cessation resources.
  • Taking digital radiographs as prescribed by dentists.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records, including treatment plans and progress notes using the electronic dental records.
  • Collaboration: Maintaining a cheerful demeanor while working closely with dentists and other oral health professionals to develop and implement patient treatment plans, as well as performing patient triage and initiating care as appropriate for walk-in patients.
  • Infection Control: Adhering to strict infection control procedures, including sterilizing instruments, and disinfecting treatment areas.
  • Administrative duties such as managing supplies and inventory, processing insurance claims, attending departmental meetings and other trainings, providing support at Hamilton locations if needed, and training incoming team members.
  • PHDHPs perform duties consistent with PA’s Dental State Law relating to PHDHP Scope of Practice.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Healthcare Knowledge: A fundamental understanding of healthcare services and basic medical terminology.
  • Tech-Savvy: Proficiency in basic data entry computer skills.
  • Strong Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Team Player: An industrious and cooperative nature to foster harmonious working relationships with clinic management, physicians, clinicians, and the public.
  • Education: Current licensure as a Dental Hygienist in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior CPR/First Aid certification.
  • One (1) year of working experience in a medical or physician office setting.
  • Knowledge of The Joint Commission regulations.
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish, Nepali, French, Arabic.
