Job Title: Dental Hygienist
Job Category: Operations.

Location: Dental Clinic.
Position Type/Status: Full-time, benefitted or Part-time.
Travel: Minimal.
Wage: $42.45 to $54.11 per hour.
Reports to: Dental Director.
Manages Direct Reports: No.

Job Description:
Job Purpose:
The Dental Hygienist works in a team-based, patient-centered dental clinic serving insured and uninsured clients with a special emphasis on care for persons who experience barriers to accessing care due to income, language, cultural, and social barriers.

Duties:
  • Adhere to the spirit of Waterfall Community Health Center to remove barriers to care and our mission statement while performing assigned duties.
  • Demonstrate the core values of Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Compassion, Partnership, and Collaborative Communication.
  • Perform periodontal procedures in a manner that is best for the patient in accordance with state dental board requirements.
  • Educate patients on the importance of preventing, diagnosing, and rerating periodontal disease.
  • Discuss the links between periodontal conditions and overall systemic health.
  • Complete proper assessments, ie. probing, charting existing restorations, digital radiographs, to develop the appropriate treatment plan using an electronic medical record system (EMR
  • Place sealants, fluoride varnish, SDF.
  • Perform and follow proper sterilization and infection control protocols.
  • Work collaboratively with the team on scheduling patients, ensuring an exceptional patient experience, and maintaining the condition of the practice and equipment.
  • Other related duties may be assigned by the Supervisor.

Education and/or Experience and Qualifications:
  • Dental hygiene licensure compliant with the State Dental Board with no adverse actions.
  • Two years’ experience as a licensed Dental Hygienist preferred.
  • Strong computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) preferred.
  • Non-violent Crisis Intervention Comprehensive training class completed within 6 months of hire and recertify prior to the expiration date.
  • BLS certification.

Immunizations Required:
  • TB test (upon hire).

Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk working at a computer.
  • Able to lift 15 pounds occasionally.
  • Able to travel as needed.
